Workplace Equality Fund Awarded to Workplaces to Boost Inclusivity and Diversity

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the awarding of the £800,000 Workplace Equality Fund to help Scottish workplaces boost inclusivity and diversity; understands that the Fund has been administered by national advice service Advice Direct Scotland and has been awarded to projects that aim at making workplaces more accessible to previously excluded groups including older people and those with disabilities; notes that the projects in receipt of funds are a part of the Fair Work Framework which, it understands, sets out what fair work means in Scotland, offering all individuals an effective voice, opportunity, security, fulfilment, and respect; notes that 13 projects out of 54 applications have been successful in receiving the funding and that seven of these are based in Glasgow; understands that one of the Glasgow based projects is the Leadership Programme for BAME Employees, by PATH Scotland in partnership with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, which aims to support BAME employees into health board and leadership roles by delivering a developmental online leadership programme, targeting 30 BAME members of staff to increase their skills, knowledge and confidence, supported by 25 mentors specifically trained to encourage and develop the participants; further understands that applicants could apply for up to £75,000 in each year of the fund to carry out activities that will help with inclusivity, with a total of £800,000 available for the first year of the two-year equality fund; congratulates the 13 organisations which have been successful in their applications, and welcomes their commitment to make Scottish workplaces more inclusive and diverse.
