Lodged by David Torrance (Scottish National Party) Standard Motion 12 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Kirkcaldy-based carbon-offsetting firm, Akre, on receiving a seven figure funding package to continue what it sees as the firm's world leading environmental work; understands that Akre was established by Renwick Drysdale, and that the firm builds upon his forestry heritage and is an evolution of the woodland creation consultancy, Kilrie Trees; further understands that Renwick and his team plan to tap into surging demand for carbon-offsetting and habitat restoration; acknowledges Akre’s goal of growing 10 million trees by 2024; commends Akre for, it understands, being the world’s first verified carbon-negative tree nursery, with a natural capital consultancy and exchange, and wishes Mr Drysdale and Akre all the best for the future and their environmental restoration efforts.
