Aberdeen City Council Wins Best Practice Award at Scottish Renewables Net-Zero Energy Transition Awards

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Aberdeen City Council on winning the Best Practice Award for its Climate Change Plan at the inaugural Scottish Renewables Net-Zero Energy Transition Awards; understands that Aberdeen City Council’s plan sets net zero emission targets for assets and operations, as well as measures to build climate resilience; notes that the plan from Aberdeen City Council includes over 100 projects, such as the hydrogen refuse collection vehicle, HECTOR, the transition to hydrogen, electric and dual-fuel vehicles in the council’s transport fleet, and the creation of low-carbon buildings; further notes that projects also focus on expanding the programme of tree planting, creating naturalised grasslands and wildflower meadows, and the development of green infrastructure on council land for water management and increasing biodiversity, and commends Jenny Jindra, Aberdeen City Council’s Climate Change Officer, and Alison Leslie, Aberdeen City Council’s Interim Team Lead, Climate and Sustainability Policy, and their teams for all their hard work and dedication.
