Home-Start Orkney 21st Anniversary
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Home-Start Orkney on its 21st anniversary, which was celebrated on 27 August 2022; acknowledges the significant and positive contribution made by Home-Start Orkney over the past two decades in supporting families across the isles; notes that the Orkney scheme is the most northerly in the UK with more than 180 independent Home-Starts across the country offering tailored assistance and early intervention on issues such as bereavement, isolation, financial difficulties, and mental and physical health conditions; understands that Home-Start supported 56,000 children in 27,000 families in the UK last year alone; praises the charity for its adaptation during the COVID-19 pandemic to support families through digital support and the delivery of wellbeing bags; believes that the charity continues to play a vital role in Scotland's communities, particularly in supporting low-income households through the cost of living crisis; thanks the Home-Start Orkney staff and volunteers for their efforts and dedication, and wishes the organisation in Orkney and across the UK every success in the future as it continues to deliver its mission to provide children with a happy and secure childhood.
