Bonhill Primary School Wins Reading Schools Award

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Bonhill Primary for receiving the Scottish Book Trust's Reading Schools Award; notes that the award is given to schools for encouraging reading for pleasure; acknowledges that the school received the award due to a number of initiatives, including having cosy reading areas installed around the school, creating a reading cabin and encouraging pupils to attend the Starbooks Café, as well as holding after-school events where families came together to read and enjoy pizza made in the school’s pizza oven; recognises that the school took part in World Book Day and individual classes have also participated in activities which contributed to the award, including "book speed dating" and creating book review vlogs; considers that reading is an important skill, and congratulates Bonhill Primary for embracing this initiative.
