The motion

That the Parliament commends more than 300 runners of all abilities who completed Aberdeen’s Midnight Runway Run, a unique event that began at midnight on 3 September 2022 at Aberdeen International Airport after tickets sold out within days of going on sale; notes that the participants ran 3.5km, or two lengths, on a lit up runway in the Dyce Terminal; congratulates Jamie Reid, who ran the race in a time of 11 minutes and 40 seconds, and IIona Kriauzaite, who finished in 14 minutes and 15 seconds; understands that more than £40,000 was raised on the night, with the money going to local charities Kayleigh’s Wee Stars, We Too! and Friends of Anchor; notes that Aberdeen Airport’s Canine Crew Therapets, who roam the terminal every week to help visitors and passengers feel welcomed and relaxed, also made an appearance on the night; commends organisers CHC Helicopters, Aberdeen International Airport and all those who volunteered to make the event happen after a two year pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and wishes the event continued success going forward.
