Clyde Eats Celebrates Positive Impact on Local Economy
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes reports that after one full year in operation, Clyde Eats has saved Inverclyde’s hospitality businesses over £100,000 in commission; understands that the food ordering service, which is run by sisters Janine Brennan and Yvonne Malloy, was set up in 2021 to challenge mainstream food ordering apps and support the local economy; further understands that the takeaway platform currently has over 12,000 people registered and over 60 food outlets signed up, with businesses saving 8% when customers buy from them through Clyde Eats as opposed to a national food ordering platform; commends Clyde Eats for donating over £5,000 to Inverclyde-based charities and projects; understands that the firm has been shortlisted for the upcoming Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce ICON Awards, and wishes Janine and Yvonne all the best as they continue to grow the business and help keep money in the pockets of local businesses.
