Grangemouth Stags Rugby Club Unveils Memorial and Mental Health Initiative

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Grangemouth Stags Rugby Club in Grangemouth, Falkirk on the recent installation of its MGM Wellbeing Decking; understands that the Stags developed this project, which was unveiled at its Clubhouse in Grangemouth on 27 August 2022 by Scottish Rugby legend, Scott Hastings and his wife, Jenny, as a memorial to former club members, Wallace Robertson, Bobby Lorentson and Matt Howe who sadly passed away; further understands that the multipurpose space also serves as a reflective area to encourage people to open up and talk about their mental health, increasing awareness and decreasing stigmatisation; recognises the generosity of MGM Timber, who, it understands, worked in conjunction with suppliers to provide the decking free of charge; further recognises the efforts of club members, Jim Forsyth and Chris Tilley, who designed and helped build the project, and from the families of Wallace, Bobby and Matt who assisted in providing the seating for the project; notes that the club, working in partnership with the Scottish Association for Mental Health will be delivering workshops to all its members to promote understanding and awareness of poor mental health amongst club members; congratulates the Grangemouth Stags and all those involved for all their hard work and their contribution to reducing stigma and improving understanding of mental health, and wishes the club all the best for the future.
