Scottish Enterprise Specialist Spirits Retailer of the Year, Glasgow

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Spirit of Alba for winning the accolade of Specialist Spirits Retailer of the Year in the Glasgow area; commends the entrepreneurship of Jim Hopkins and Craig Simpson, whose enthusiasm and specialist knowledge of the 600 whiskies and spirits stocked attracts increasing numbers of discerning clients to their welcoming store on Cowgate, Kirkintilloch; notes that the retail arm of the business was launched during the challenging market conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic; acknowledges the lengthy and intense planning that was required for the recent Spirit of Alba Festival 2022, where several dozen distillers of whisky, gin and rum exhibited to the public; applauds the company’s strong message of responsible drinking, and wishes all at Spirit of Alba continued success in their business ventures online and in the constituency of Strathkelvin and Bearsden and beyond.
