Father and Son Hit £40,000 Milestone in Fundraising for Strathcarron Hospice
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates father and son Kevin and Ryan Beattie, from Carron in Falkirk, on their fundraising efforts in aid of Strathcarron Hospice; understands that with the help of their family and friends, Kevin and Ryan have been fundraising for Strathcarron Hospice for the past four years and cumulatively have raised £40,000 to date; recognises what it sees as the incredible work that all those who work at Strathcarron Hospice do, not only supporting individuals but also their families with the lived realities of palliative care, while ensuring they live as fulfilled a life as possible with their remaining time and pass with dignity; notes that this collective fundraising effort was inspired by the loss of Kevin’s mother, Jean, to cancer in 2018, and the amazing care both Jean and her family received from the dedicated staff at Strathcarron Hospice, which it believes is widely treasured throughout Falkirk’s communities and beyond; appreciates the variety of challenges and events Kevin and Ryan have undertaken to raise what it sees as much needed funds for Strathcarron Hospice, including, it understands, half marathons, marathons, 10k runs, 1980s and 90s themed nights, an abseil down the Falkirk Wheel, and their current undertaking, a 10-day venture to scale Africa’s Mount Kilimanjaro, and wishes them well for their climb up Mount Kilimanjaro and any future challenges.
