Taylor High School Awarded UNICEF Bronze Rights Respecting School Award

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Taylor High School on being awarded with the UNICEF Rights Respecting School Award, Bronze: Rights Committed; understands that UNICEF UK works with schools to create safe and inspiring places to learn, where children are respected, their talents are nurtured and they are able to thrive; notes that over 1.6 million children in the UK go to a Rights Respecting School and nearly 5,000 schools up and down the country are working through the Award; further notes that UNICEF uses the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child (UNCRC) as its guide for delivering the award to schools; commends the efforts of the pupils and staff team at Taylor High for working towards this impressive honour, which, it believes, demonstrates their commitment to developing a rights-based and rights-promoting approach within their school; believes that the right foundations are in place for Taylor High School’s journey to the Silver stage of the Award, Silver: Rights Aware, where, it understands, that the school will be assessed by one of UNICEF UK’s Professional Advisers who will look at the whole school’s rights respecting work, and wishes all those involved the best of luck in their continued journey to becoming fully Rights Respecting.
