Coastal Clean-Up Day

The motion

That the Parliament commends the work undertaken by Marine Conservation Society and 61 volunteers at Cramond Beach on 17 September 2022 for Coastal Clean-Up Day; understands that the aim of the day, as well as cleaning the beach was to also collect marine litter data for the MCSUK litter survey; notes that 76kg of marine litter was collected, which involved 5,403 items collected in 100m stretch; further notes that 3,156 (58%) items were made up of sewage related debris, which included 3,014 wet wipes; notes that 1,997 (37%) items were made from plastic in which 1,012 were plastic fragments of 0-50cm and 376 items, which came in a wrapper or plastic, and thanks the staff and volunteers for their time and efforts.
