The motion

That the Parliament congratulates RSPB Baron’s Haugh Nature Reserve in Motherwell for securing £210,000 in funding from Scottish Government Nature Restoration Fund for a wetland project; understands that over the past few years the River Clyde has slowly eroded the raised soil bund that separates the nature reserve from the river, leading to the loss of footpaths, hides and impacting on the wildlife; further understands that RSPB has been attempting to repair and protect the bund from the increasing pressure of the river, but despite these efforts erosion has continued; notes that the wetland project will tackle these issues by creating a sustainable long-term future for the reserve as well as delivering new habitats for wildlife, and wishes the project success in its endeavours.
