Grangemouth Boxer Secures Silver at EUBC European School Championships 2022

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Thomas O’Reilly of Sparta Boxing Academy in Grangemouth, Falkirk on winning a silver medal at the EUBC European School Championships 2022 in Turkey between the 10 and 21 August 2022; notes that Thomas competed in the 52kg weight division at the competition against fellow boxers from across Europe to reach the final; understands that this silver medal follows on from Thomas’ gold medal success at the GB Schools Three Nations Championship where he competed in the Male Schools 52kg Final in Dundee on 18 and 19 June 2022; further understands that Thomas’ achievement at the EUBC European School Championships 2022 has made local history in the Falkirk area whereby the only other competitor from the Falkirk region to obtain a medal was Bryce Stewart in 2007, who achieved bronze; congratulates Thomas on his silver medal at the EUBC European School Championships 2022, and looks forward to hearing of his future achievements in the sport.
