Remembering Mahsa Amini and Condemning Iran’s Morality Police’s Actions
The motion
That the Parliament condemns the actions of Iran’s so-called "morality police" who detained 22-year-old Mahsa Amini on 13 September 2022 in Tehran claiming that her hijab did not properly cover her hair; understands that Mahsa collapsed at a police station, falling into a coma, and died three days later reportedly due to police brutality; highlights growing reports of increasing violent treatment of young women by the "morality police" in Iran as they constrain religious freedom; supports the brave Iranians protesting throughout the country to demand better rights and security for women, and to oppose the reported violent tactics used by the police, in memory of Mahsa; regrets reports that at least 83 people have died during these protests, and supports the family of Mahsa Amini during this tragic ordeal.
