Our Lady's High School Achieves Reading Schools Silver Status

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Our Lady's High School in Motherwell after it achieved Reading Schools Silver Status; understands that Reading Schools is an accreditation programme for schools that are committed to building a culture of reading for their learners and communities; notes that the programme is run by the Scottish Book Trust, the national charity changing lives through reading and writing, and funded by the Scottish Government and in partnership with Education Scotland; acknowledges research which shows that reading for pleasure has positive impacts on learners' attainment across the curriculum, supporting wellbeing, critical thinking, creativity, empathy and resilience; commends the librarians, teachers, pupils and wider Our Lady's High School community on this fantastic achievement, and wishes everyone the very best in their studies.
