Inverclyde Teams Up with The Daniel Baird Foundation to Help First Responders

That the Parliament applauds Inverclyde Council on becoming, it believes, the first local authority area in Scotland to purchase control the bleed kits from The Daniel Baird Foundation to help first responders; understands that the kits, which contain essential medical supplies designed to reduce blood loss, and can save lives in the vital minutes before medical attention arrives, will be carried by the local authority's community wardens service, and will also be available for emergency services while they are out on duty; recognises Inverclyde Council’s efforts to make these life-saving kits more accessible in the district by encouraging local businesses, organisations and venues to follow their example and source their own kit; acknowledges that The Daniel Baird Foundation was set up by Lynne Baird in memory of her late son, 26, who died after suffering a catastrophic bleed in 2017, and her efforts saw her awarded an MBE earlier this year; notes call for other Scottish local authorities to purchase these kits, and hopes that they will never need to be used in Inverclyde, but if they are, that they will save lives.
