Mike Paul Wins Inspirational Leadership Award at Star Awards

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Mike Paul, Head Teacher of Bucksburn Academy in Aberdeen Donside, who has recently won the Inspirational Leadership Award at the 2022 Star Awards; understands that Mike was nominated for the award following the way he prioritised both staff and pupil wellbeing throughout the COVID-19 pandemic as well as ensuring that any changes which were made, would allow the school community to continue to thrive; further understands that following Bucksburn Academy’s recent visit from Education Scotland, his leadership was also commended, with HMIE inspectors praising the efforts that have been made by the school to ensure continuity in learning and pupil and staff wellbeing; believes that Mike is respected by staff and pupils of Bucksburn Academy as well as all parents; notes that the Inspirational Leadership Award recognises individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, regardless of grade or role; understands that the Star Awards is Aberdeen City Council’s annual awards ceremony to recognise the efforts of all staff irrespective of department or place of work; notes that 2022 marks the 10th anniversary of the Star Awards, with the theme of the night being Alice in Wonderland, and commends Mike as well as all other nominees for their continued hard work.
