Dorothy Burke Wins People’s Champion Award at Star Awards

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Dorothy Burke, who recently won the People’s Champion Award at Aberdeen City Council’s Star Awards 2022; understands that Dorothy has gone above and beyond both at work and in her own time to help support Ukrainians adapt to life in Aberdeen after fleeing their war-torn country; notes that the Star Awards is Aberdeen City Council’s annual awards to recognise the efforts of all staff, irrespective of department or place of work; believes that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Star Awards, with the theme of the night being Alice in Wonderland; notes that the People’s Champion Award recognises an exceptional council employee or team that has gone above and beyond what could reasonably expected of them, to improve the lives of the people and / or their communities in Aberdeen, with their contributions being either in the workplace or as a volunteer outside of work; understands that the People’s Champion Award is the only award which is both nominated and voted for by the people of Aberdeen, and commends Dorothy as well as all other nominees for their continued hard work and efforts to help improve the lives of people and their communities right across Aberdeen.
