Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Benbecula Flying Fortress Disaster

That the Parliament commemorates the 80th anniversary of the Flying Fortress air disaster in the Western Isles; understands that, on 6 October 1942, a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress plane stalled shortly after take-off from RAF Benbecula, crashing into the sea; notes that the disaster tragically resulted in five of the seven crew members losing their lives, and notes that a memorial service took place on 9 October 2022, at Nunton Cemetery in Benbecula, where three of the servicemen who lost their lives in the disaster are buried.
