Condolences on Creeslough Disaster, County Donegal

The motion

That the Parliament notes with great sadness the tragic explosion at a petrol station in the small village of Creeslough, County Donegal, Ireland, on 7 October 2022, in which it understands that 10 people lost their lives and eight others remain in hospital and are being treated for injuries; acknowledges the pain and suffering of the whole community, which is small and close-knit, and the wider county of Donegal; recognises the strong links between Donegal and west Scotland, and the impact of this tragedy on the Irish diaspora with family in Creeslough and surrounding communities; commends the efforts of local emergency services, rescuers and volunteers and cross-border support provided to assist An Garda Síochána and other services and agencies, and sends condolences to everyone affected, the people of Creeslough and the Donegal community, including many people and families in west Scotland.
