Clydebank Asbestos Group Celebrates 30 Years

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Clydebank Asbestos Group on celebrating 30 years of helping victims of asbestos-related disease; notes that there is a civic reception being held in the group’s honour on 14 October 2022 to mark the milestone; recognises that the volunteer organisation was set up in 1992 by David Colraine and his friends in order to help provide support, advice and information for victims of asbestos-related disease and their families; notes that David and his wife, Jean, ran the charity in the early years from their own finances; thanks them for continuing to expand and adapt over the years and for their ongoing work with a variety of organisations, including Macmillan Cancer Support, West Dunbartonshire Council, Energy Action Scotland and the Scottish Mesothelioma Network in order to support people with asbestos-related disease and their loved ones; recognises that they continue to campaign for the removal of asbestos from buildings and act in the interests of people affected by asbestos-related disease as well as assisting people in making compensation claims, and wishes them well for the future in their continued efforts to support those impacted by asbestos-related disease.
