Walk For Freedom Day 2022

The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges Walk For Freedom Day on 15 October 2022; understands that Walk For Freedom Day is a global event, rallying tens of thousands of people, taking millions of steps, in hundreds of cities all over the world, to raise awareness of human trafficking; considers that participants will walk to disrupt the existence of slavery and human trafficking, protesting its very foundation with each step; notes the view that 40 million people are enslaved in the world today, and that human trafficking is the fastest growing criminal industry in the world, generating more than £113 billion per year; further notes the estimate that 136,000 people in the United Kingdom are living in modern slavery, and sees this day as an opportunity to educate everyone and mobilise communities, spreading information about human trafficking and how to end it.
