Arrochar Surgery Shortlisted for People’s Choice Award at Scottish Health Awards
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Arrochar Surgery on being nominated for the People’s Choice Award at the Scottish Health Awards; understands that staff at the NHS Highland Practice are hopeful of winning in memory of their colleague Julie Armstrong who passed away suddenly in December 2021; recognises that the nomination followed efforts by staff to support the community during lockdown, including the setting up of a free community larder to help those who had seen their income reduced or had lost their jobs; understands that they also checked in on vulnerable patients, ensuring that they had food, medicine and lateral flow tests and, once restrictions eased, held an afternoon tea for over 60s to tackle isolation and loneliness as well as a separate charity event for the whole community to raise funds for Ukraine; wishes the surgery every success, including Dr David Troup, who has spent 40 years at the surgery and is due to retire in March 2023; thanks them for all their efforts in supporting patients and the wider community, and encourages people to support the surgery in its award bid by voting for them online.
