111th Taiwanese National Day
The motion
That the Parliament notes the occasion of the 111th National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan) on 10 October 2022; congratulates the staff of the Taipei Representative Office in the UK, Edinburgh Office on their reception in celebration of their national day, held at Edinburgh City Chambers on 6 October; notes that the reception included musical performances and a celebration of the ties between Scotland and Taiwan; understands that these ties include Taiwan being the third largest overseas market for Scotch whisky in the world; considers Taiwan to be a valued friend to Scotland and the United Kingdom; expresses its hope that these friendly ties between Scotland and Taiwan continue to grow and prosper, and wishes the Taiwanese diaspora in Scotland well for the year ahead.
