Aberdeen City Council’s Emergency Response Team Win Collaboration Award at Star Awards

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Aberdeen City Council’s Emergency Response Team, who recently won the Collaboration award at the 2022 Star Awards; believes that the Emergency Response Team provided a swift and dedicated response to the damage caused across Aberdeen following Storms Arwen, Malik and Corrie, with efforts being led by the Incident Management Team, which saw officers in the roads department, environmental services, emergency planning, data and insights, communications, environmental health and housing come together to clean up Aberdeen and fix the damage as a result of the storms; understands that the team worked tirelessly over a number of days to move fallen trees, unblock roads and pathways across the city as well as provide support to vulnerable people who were at risk of harm due to power outages; further understands that the Star Awards is Aberdeen City Council’s annual awards ceremony to recognise the efforts of all staff irrespective of department or place of work; notes that 2022 marks the 10th anniversary of the Star Awards, with the theme of the night being Alice in Wonderland; commends what it sees as the incredible efforts of Fiona Mann, Aberdeen City Council’s Emergency Planning and Resilience Lead, who managed the efforts across the city such as managing the city’s reception centres, liaising with SSEN and convening a number of meetings of the Incident Management Team as well as supporting the Duty Emergency Response Coordinators and updating the Local Resilience Partnership, and further commends the commitment and efforts of all individuals involved in Aberdeen City Council’s Emergency Response team.
