Sam Firth Wins Film Award

The motion

That the Parliament applauds Sam Firth from the University of the West of Scotland, Ayr, for winning the British Film Institute and CHANEL Filmmaker Award; understands that Sam, who is the programme leader for the university’s BA Filmmaking course, won the award for her documentary The Wolf Suit; recognises that she was presented with the award by actress Tilda Swinton, who was part of the judging panel, which described Sam as a “brave artist”; commends Sam for her documentary, which, it understands, she produced, directed, and edited; notes that Sam also received a prize of £20,000 from the BFI to produce further work; congratulates Sam for her achievements, and wishes her all the best for the future.
