Cumnock School Raises Funds for Alzheimer Scotland

The motion

That the Parliament commends supply teacher, Bernard Shepherd, of Cumnock’s Robert Burns Academy, staff and pupils for their efforts in raising £2,083 for Alzheimer Scotland by taking part in Glasgow’s 10k Great Scottish Run; understands that 36 staff, students, parents and friends volunteered and took part; notes that the run took place on 2 October 2022; understands that Bernard has embarked on many fund-raising events over the years for different charities; further understands that he began running in 2011 raising funds for the Scottish Association for Mental Health and Mind following the passing of his son; understands that the teacher had taken on the challenge earlier in the year, following the news that a karate colleague had been diagnosed with the disease, and set a target of £1,000; applauds Bernard and all involved for all their fundraising efforts, surpassing their target, and wishes them well in their future endeavours.
