Electrical Safety First Launches £100,000 Electrical Safety Fund

The motion

That the Parliament is enthused that the charity Electrical Safety First has made up to £100,000 available to help fund electrical safety initiatives through partnerships working at local level; understands that the Electrical Safety Fund aims to keep people safe in their homes, with a focus on tackling risks associated with electrical products, increasing the public’s awareness of electrical safety, and promoting changes in behaviour; further understands that applicants are invited to apply online through the Electrical Safety First website before 23 October 2022 for up to £5,000 per organisation, or potentially up to £10,000 for joint or larger projects, with the grants being available to consumer safety organisations in the community, such as fire and rescue services, trading standards teams, and charities, to deliver effective electrical safety initiatives at local level aimed at addressing the problems of misuse and/or lack of maintenance of electrical products; believes that the fund also aims to provide a direct benefit to local communities through project-based partnerships, which will deliver outcomes that, in the long term, it hopes will contribute to a reduction in electrical risks in homes across the UK, and wishes Electrical Safety First and all involved, all the very best in their endeavours.
