£250,000 Boost for Rail Line Revival in the North East
The motion
That the Parliament notes that the Campaign for North East Rail will be awarded up to £250,000 over four years to help with carrying out a feasibility study into reopening the rail links between Dyce, Ellon, Fraserburgh and Peterhead; understands that the funding comes from the Scottish Government’s Just Transition Fund, a £500 million 10-year commitment to support projects across the north east and Moray, and that it aims to help towards the region’s shift away from fossil fuel reliance, improve low-carbon industry and boost jobs and opportunities; considers that the work will involve Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire Councils, and transport group Nestrans; understands that this new feasibility study will be used to address a number of outstanding flaws and omissions from previous studies, and wishes the Campaign for North East Rail success with the feasibility study.
