The motion

That the Parliament applauds Dr Paul McNamara, who is part of the team at Port Glasgow Medical Practice, on penning a new children’s book with help from his three daughters to raise money for people in need across Inverclyde; notes that Dr McNamara has published, I Love My Teacher’s Guts on Amazon and will be donating a proportion of book sales to Inverclyde Foodbank and to the Mental Health Foundation; understands that the book is inspired by the 1987 comedy/sci-fi film Inner Space and tells the tale of a young character, Sally, who shrinks to the size of a microscopic particle and finds herself trapped inside her teacher’s body, so aims to be educational too as Sally learns about the inner workings of the human body; further understands that Dr McNamara and his daughters, Isla, aged nine, and twins Emily and Freya, aged seven, started thinking about writing a book during the first COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020; acknowledges that Dr McNamara has written two medical books previously and hopes his step into the fictional realm will inspire others, and thanks him for his efforts to raise funds for vital charities who are helping people across Inverclyde.
