Dunoon Grammar Wins World’s Best School Prize for Community Collaboration

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Dunoon Grammar School on winning the inaugural World’s Best School Prize for Community Collaboration; understands that Dunoon Grammar won the award due to its work in recognising the exodus of young people from the local community, identifying local skills shortages, and devising over 50 skills-based courses to encourage students to stay in the area when they leave school and enter into jobs, which will help grow the local economy; believes that Dunoon Grammar has a long history of empowering its students with a range of forward-thinking initiatives, including its work with Apps for Good, a charity that promotes coding skills, and also giving students vital entrepreneurial skills; understands that Dunoon Grammar secured $50,000 as a result of winning the prize and that it will use this to assist with transport and invest in more advanced remote learning technology; praises the teaching staff at Dunoon Grammar for all that they do in preparing the next generation for life outside of school, and wishes all pupils well as they continue their development.
