The motion

That the Parliament is delighted that a Clackmannanshire group has become one of 300 UK organisations to have received a tree honouring the legacy of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II; acknowledges that Alva Development Trust was recently joined by Clackmannanshire Lord-Lieutenant Johnny Stewart to plant the sapling at the town’s Cochrane Hall; further acknowledges that the tree was gifted to the group by the Queen's Green Canopy initiative as part of a living legacy to the late Queen; understands that over 50 of the total 300 trees came to Scotland, with each county across the four nations of the United Kingdom receiving at least one tree, and it is understood that the sapling in Alva is the only one in Clackmannanshire; notes that the tree was presented in a special pot embossed with a unique Cypher from Queen's Green Canopy, which stood as a message of hope, regeneration and optimism outside Buckingham Palace during the Platinum Jubilee weekend; further notes that the Scottish rowan tree that was planted by the Lord-Lieutenant along with volunteers at the trust in Alva also came with a special plaque; commends this nationwide network of organisations that were chosen to become custodians of these special trees in Her Late Majesty’s name, and recognises what it sees as the positive impact that Alva Development Trust and all these chosen custodians have on their communities, representing the very best of Britain.
