Ardgowan Primary Praised for Use of Digital Technology

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that Ardgowan Primary School, in Greenock, has been given a special prize by Digital Schools Awards Scotland (DSAS) for its work to promote the use of technology in the classroom; understands that pupils have been using a variety of tools, such as iPads and laptops, to make learning more accessible and enjoyable; notes that these tools have been particularly helpful for children with visual impairments compared to using a traditional jotter; recognises that gaining the accreditation from DSAS required pupils and staff to meet with representatives from the awards body to discuss the work that the school had undertaken; appreciates that as well as using technology in the classroom, pupils have been learning the basics of coding and other digital skills, and senior pupils have stepped-up to become "digital leaders" and helped school staff to teach their fellow pupils; applauds Ardgowan Primary for utilising digital technology to the benefit of both staff and pupils, and wishes the school all the best as it continues to develop the use of these tools.
