Shetland Mental Health Locum Nurse Celebrates 50 Years in the NHS

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Shetland mental health locum nurse, Pravind Hurnauth, on 50 years of working in and for the NHS; notes that Mr Hurnauth commenced general nursing on 2 October 1972 in Bangour Hospital and subsequently began working in mental health in Bellsdyke Hospital’s Intensive Psychiatric Care Unit (IPCU); further notes that Mr Hurnauth has worked across Scotland in a variety of healthcare settings including IPCUs, GP practices and drug and alcohol services and has worked as a Band 6 Community Psychiatric Nurse since 2005 specialising in addiction services; understands that Mr Hurnauth holds qualifications, including a postgraduate diploma in Health Education and Health Promotion, the Royal College of General Practitioners certificate in addiction and a course in smoking cessation from Strathclyde University; commends Mr Hurnauth for his commitment to learning and professional development throughout his career; notes that, since March 2020, Mr Hurnauth has been working as a locum community psychiatric nurse within the Substance Misuse Recovery Service at NHS Shetland; thanks Mr Hurnauth for his important work caring for people affected by addiction in communities across Scotland; commends Mr Hurnauth for his dedication to providing mental health care for patients and to working in and for the NHS; congratulates Mr Hurnauth on this milestone, and wishes him well.
