Charlie House Receives Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Charlie House, which has recently been presented with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service by Aberdeen’s Lord-Lieutenant; understands that Charlie House, founded in 2011, was established to help support children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions in north east Scotland receive support that they may require, with the charity offering practical and emotional support to children and their families, as well as providing access to inclusive activities to allow children to live life to the full and make memories for the whole family to treasure; further understands that Charlie House is a place where all children that need support can enjoy family time together, without the tensions of medical intervention; notes that the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service was created in 2002 to mark Her Late Majesty the Queen's Jubilee; recognises and celebrates what it sees as the difference that is made by volunteering; understands that the award is the highest given to local voluntary groups and is said to be the equivalent of an MBE; commends all those who work or volunteer for Charlie House, and wishes them all the best for the future.
