Aberdeen Celebrates Top Prize and Multiple Wins at the Prestigious Beautiful Scotland Awards

The motion

That the Parliament recognises that Aberdeen City is celebrating multiple wins, including the top prize as Best City, in the annual Beautiful Scotland awards ceremony; understands that the City was recognised for its fantastic horticulture and outstanding greenspaces; notes that Aberdeen Communities Together was a joint winner of this year’s Rosebowl, as well as picking up the City Trophy and Urban Community Trophy awards; further notes that Aberdeen City Council was named as joint winner of this year’s Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society Award along with East Lothian Council; understands that Brighter Bucksburn received a certificate of recognition for its efforts to transform and brighten the Bucksburn area, in Aberdeen Donside; notes that the Beautiful Scotland Awards is organised by Keep Scotland Beautiful to recognise and celebrate groups across Scotland for all that they do to enhance and protect their local areas; understands that the judges highlighted that more than 2,000 volunteers held almost 500 clean-ups in 2022, and congratulates Steven Shaw from Aberdeen City Council’s Environmental Services team and all the volunteers across Aberdeen, who dedicate their time to making Aberdeen look its best.
