National Buffer Zones Around Abortion Clinics in England and Wales
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes what it considers as the House of Commons’ support for the introduction of nationwide harassment-free buffer zones around abortion clinics in England and Wales; understands that interference with access to or provision of abortion services will not be allowed under this proposed legislation, and that this would include actions such as displaying signs, approaching clinic users and doctors and filming patients; commends the 297 MPs who voted in favour of buffer zones for understanding what it considers as the profoundly traumatic effect anti-abortion harassment has on patients and staff; welcomes Gillian Mackay MSP’s proposal for a member’s bill for Safe Access Zones, and looks forward to the implementation of such legislation in Scotland.
