Govan Charity Shortlisted for a Prestigious Award

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Men's Shed Govan, on being shortlisted for the Scottish Men's Shed of the Year Award; notes that the award is to recognise and reward the contribution and impact that men's sheds across the country are making to people's lives and the community; understands that Men's Shed is a place for men who are retired, unemployed or cannot work to have a focus and purpose again; acknowledges that the Scottish Men's Sheds Association is behind the initiative; understands that Sarah Everett, funding manager of Men’s Shed Govan, did not expect to be in the final three due to it being a relatively young shed, and further understands that, if it wins, there are plans to put the possible prize money to use by expanding the facility, making its own solar panels, and organising some coffee and tea days for older people in the area.
