The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Kathryn Wood from Stromness, Orkney, who has successfully qualified for the Badminton Horse Trials due to take place in South Gloucestershire in May 2022; understands that Kathryn and her horse, Jock, secured her place for the BE90 Grassroots Championship by coming fourth at the Glamis Castle Area Festival on 31 August and seeing off fierce competition from the Scottish Eventing Circuit throughout the year; recognises that Kathryn has become only the second Orcadian rider to have competed at the international event, following in the footsteps of Sharon Ridgway in 1980; commends Kathryn on this outstanding achievement, which it believes will serve as an inspiration for upcoming eventing riders in the county; acknowledges the support it understands that Kathryn has received from her family and coaches as well as sponsorship from NorthLink Ferries, which has enabled her to compete across the country, and wishes Kathryn and Jock all the very best for the training that lies ahead and every success at the trials next year.
