Congratulating Harald Stout on Four Decades of Fire Service

The motion

That the Parliament commends Harald Stout from Stronsay, Orkney, on his more than four decades of firefighting service in the islands; understands that Harald joined the fire service in 1980 after a year's deferment when he first tried to join the service at the age of 17; understands that Stronsay's crew commander will become the longest-serving firefighter in the county when he reaches 43 years of service in January 2023; recognises what it sees as the dedication of the Stout family to firefighting with Harald's wife, Bonnie, and son, Damian, serving the local service for 22 and 15 years respectively, alongside siblings, nephews and grand nephews; praises what it considers as the vital role of retained fire stations in rural and island communities and the heroic dedication of their crews; thanks Harald for his outstanding commitment to keeping his local community safe, and wishes him and the whole Stout family all the very best for the future.
