Scottish Women’s Awards, Community Work of the Year

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Renfrewshire resident Cassie Forbes for her success at the fourth Scottish Women’s Awards in which she won the Community Work of the Year category; notes that these awards recognise and celebrate woman in Scotland who excel in fields including business, sport, law, medicine, education, technology, accounting, finance, arts, culture and charity; appreciates that Cassie has dedicated her life to public service having previously served as a Police Scotland officer, reaching the rank of inspector; understands that since 2021, Cassie has been CEO of Roar – Connections for Life, a charity which empowers older people to be resilient, socially connected and psychically active; further understands that Roar, which is based in Johnstone, Renfrewshire, provides exercise classes, prevention services and foot care clinics for its clients; recognises the challenges the charity has experience in dealing with given the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and wishes Cassie, her Roar colleagues and volunteers every success in continuing their important work in bolstering the physical and mental well-being of its clients.
