Beinn an Tuirc Distillers Win Sustainability Award

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Beinn an Tuirc Distillers on winning an award for sustainability at the annual Highlands and Islands Food and Drink Awards; understands that the distillery, which is home to Kintyre Gin and based at Torrisdale Castle Estate, received the award in recognition of its efforts to act appropriately to its surroundings and monitor its impact on the environment; further understands that this includes the operation of its gin still, Big Don, which is powered by clean hydro energy alongside the recent installation of a solar array, which powers its café and eco bothies; notes its work on carbon sequestration in the land around the distillery, and commends all involved with Beinn an Tuirc for their ongoing commitment to sustainability.
