Parksprings Care Home Memory Spinners

The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges the residents of Parksprings Care Motherwell, who are performing with the Scottish Opera, Memory Spinners; understands that Memory Spinners meet weekly in Glasgow and St Andrews, incorporating music, storytelling, movement and visual arts, to helps people with dementia and their carers relax, unlock their creative skills and form new support networks; further understands that members of the Memory Spinners groups, have created online films containing activities that everyone can enjoy from within their own homes and community; notes what it sees as the importance of creative arts across communities, empowering many to see life from a different perspective and making them feel alive; further notes that the late Sir Alexander Gibson from Motherwell, appointed conductor laureate of Scottish Opera, created and launched Scottish Opera in 1962, where he was the music director until 1986; understands that through his artistic achievements, the Theatre Royal, Glasgow was bought from Scottish Television and transformed in 1975 to be the first national opera house in Scotland; commends the staff, volunteers and family members for their dedication and time, and wishes the residents all the best with their performance at the Scottish Opera.
