Annie Burnside Reaches Her 100th Birthday

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Annie Burnside on her 100th birthday; understands that Annie was born on 26 September 1922 in Paisley during the aftermath of the First World War, marrying her husband John Burnside in 1941, giving birth to her oldest daughter Christine in 1943, Anne, in 1947 and Tommy, in 1948; understands that Annie’s 100th birthday party was a huge success, styled on the tea dances that Annie used to enjoy in her youth, and that she was the centre of attention surrounded by all her family and friends, including her five-year-old great, great, great granddaughter, Arabella; further understands that Annie is incredibly independent at the age of 100, going for a walk round the complex where she lives daily, attending a weekly exercise class and the Thursday night bingo, and commends Annie on this fabulous achievement.
