The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Cooper Butchers in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire on winning the coveted Diamond award for the best steak in Scotland following a nationwide naked steak evaluation by Scottish Craft Butchers; understands that the family operated Cooper Butchers, which has been selling premium quality meat for more than 40 years, won the award with its Limousin and Aberdeen Angus cross sirloin; further understands that the steak was aged for 28 days hanging in Cooper’s in house dry chill to promote full flavour and tenderness before being prepared by the team for final boning and trimming; acknowledges the importance of butchers in supplying premium quality meat to the Scottish consumer, with many shoppers keen to support small, independent businesses that form what it sees as an important and integral part of local communities, and wishes Coopers, which employs 13 staff including six qualified butchers and two apprentices, and all Scotland’s butchers continued commercial success.
