Perth and Kinross Council Award for Home First Initiative
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Perth and Kinross Council’s housing service on being awarded the Chartered Institute of Housing Award for its Home First initiative; understands that the aims of the initiative are to reduce the need for temporary accommodation and provide a long-term home minimising the duration, impact, stigma and cost of homelessness; further understands that the approach is the only example of a fully developed rapid rehousing model being delivered in Scotland and has been recognised by the Scottish Government as a leading example nationally; commends the Perth and Kinross Council team for the results of their work that it understands has led to a reduction in homelessness presentations by 39%, the number of people assessed as homeless reduced by 89%, and the number of households in temporary accommodation reduce by 84%, and wishes the Home First initiative and the Perth and Kinross Council housing service continued success in the future.
