Congratulating Pantry Plus at the STAR Project on its First Anniversary
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Pantry Plus initiative, run by the STAR project, on its one year anniversary of opening; understands that this charity has done ground-breaking work in helping the Renfrewshire community in tackling food poverty; further understands that the project allows people to buy what they need for a meal at wholesale prices, drastically cutting costs for those who may be struggling with food insecurity; applauds its work in removing what it believes is the stigma surrounding food poverty; notes that every penny spent by citizens on Pantry Plus is put to STAR’s community fridge, a free emergency food provision service; understands that it is also prioritising a zero-waste agenda by not using single-use plastics and reducing food waste, and commends Sharon McAuley, Heather Kay and Lauren Roy-Sutherland, as well as the rest of the staff and volunteers at Pantry Plus, on this milestone.
