16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence
The motion
That the Parliament recognises 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence; understands that the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence against women and girls is an international civil society-led campaign that takes place each year from 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, Human Rights Day; believes that gender-based violence is both a symptom and a cause of gender inequality; considers that violence against women is the most pervasive breach of human rights worldwide; understands that those facing multiple forms of discrimination experience disproportionate gender-based violence, including members of the LGBTQ community, disabled women, and women of colour; recognises the work being done by organisations and individuals in Stirling and throughout Scotland to tackle gender-based violence and gender inequality, and believes that work is still required by everyone to make change and ensure communities are safe for everyone.
