Centenary of the Election of Neddy Scrymgeour

That the Parliament recognises the 100th anniversary of the famous victory of Edwin Scrymgeour, in Dundee, in the General Election of 1922, which was held on 15 November of that year; believes that Scrymgeour, who won one of the two seats available in Dundee, alongside E D Morel of the Labour Party, was the only Member of Parliament ever to be elected to the UK Parliament under a prohibition party banner; understands that the victory came after five unsuccessful attempts at election previously; notes that Scrymgeour would serve as an MP for Dundee until 1931; further notes that this marked the defeat of Winston Churchill in Dundee after 14 years representing the city; believes that Mr Churchill would go on to have a successful career elsewhere, and further believes that 15 November 2022 should be the last anniversary of this date upon which alcohol should be served across the parliamentary estate, at Holyrood.
